The first World’s Fair was held in London, England in 1851. People came from all over England, France, Germany, the United States and elsewhere. They were exposed to the cultures of China, India and North Africa. Europe was made aware of Yankee ingenuity. The venue itself was the innovative Crystal Palace. The Fair created new consumer desires and even made a profit. Its legacy would be 19th century world fairs in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and many later ones. A PowerPoint presentation features images of this historic fair.
